About Me

Born 1947 and raised in Baldwin Park, Calif. spent most of my child hood in Baldwin Park, went to school up to my last year in high school. At the end of 1963 moved to the Diamond Bar, Calif area where we were one of about 400 family's in the area at that time.
In June of 1964 I graduated from Ganesha High School located at Pomona, Calif.
Started my first job working at a drive-in dairy in Rowland Heights, Calif after graduation.
During the time from high school and till I got drafted I held a few other jobs check my Journal Page.
In 1966 I received my notice to report to the Los Angeles Recruiting Center for my physical. After passing that my notice came to report for basic training on August 30,1966.
Upon reporting we left Los Angeles aboard a bus headed to Fort Ord California for 8 weeks of basic training. Everybody knows what basic was like! But we were in a different Situation at Fort Ord there was a problem in the barracks with Meningias sickness. We were allowed a minimum of 8 hours sleep, but had to sleep with all the window open so we had extra blankets. Every other company area was empty. From there I went to Aberdeen Proving Grounds on the Chesapeake Bay in  Maryland for advance training. Lots of cold weather and snow, for a California boy was not the best of times. After advanced training I was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. The train ride from Aberdeen to Ft Bragg was a new experience. Contacted food posining while on the train (ham and cheese sandwich). Spent the first three day at Ft Bragg in the hospital.
Being stationed at Ft Bragg turned out to be some of the best time I spent in the Army. Met a lot of super people and was able to do a lot of things thru out the south. there was a group of us that were able o attend a few of the Nascar races in the area thanks in large part to Jim Kozal ( I would like to locate him).
In August of 1967 I decided to try something else in the Army and sign up for Drill Corporal School at Ft Benning Georgia. I never thought there could be a place like there. Hot, humid, sticky, lots of bugs. But over it all I learned a mlot and it was fun. Returning back to the 556 I figured that I would apply for a transfer to a Basic training company so I could use my new aquird skills as a drill corporal. Didn't work that way, I believe it was the day after I returned the company went D-1 for overseas deployment, all transfers were canceled I was headed for Thailand, just didn't know it at the time.
From February 1968 to April 1969 I was stationed in Thailand just 11 miles from the Bridge of the River Kai a well known bridge from WW11 era due to a great movie. The 556LMC complete company was sent to Thailand to advise and train the Thai Army for Vietnam. although the condition that we were living under left a lot to be desired and we could have used a few things that we took for granted back in the states it was a great time. as it turned out the time spent in Thailand would stay with me for the rest of my life.
In December of 1968 I was offered to extend my time in Thailand for an early out of the Army or I could return t the states and finish out my full time. I elected o extent my time over their and it also turned out to be one of the best things that I ever did, I was ent home April 1969 and discharged six months early. While in Thailand I had different jobs ranging from the following:
Setting up our company area starting from tents to a new building compound that was turned over to the Thai Army when the company left in June of 1969, managed the NCO club, worked on the contact truck, ran supply loads from Korat to our location, and of course guard duty, worked out of the motor pool plus many other small jobs.
Upon leaving Thailand we flew over the North Pole into Travis AFB, talk about a trip looking out the window could see nothing but white until we started to land at Travis. After getting off the plain they loaded us in buses for the trip to the Oakland Army Center for return to normal life. Boy was that far from the truth after we were all finish and ready to leave an Officer cam up and the first thing he said was don't wear your uniform outside that the public wasn't to cool to returning soldiers then he said good luck, and that time of my life was over.
After returning home i went to work at a Cheverlet dealer as the dispatcher which lead to my many cars that I owned and worked on and raced. Let me think 14 55 chevy's, 3 chevy trucks, 1 corvette, 2 chevy wagon's,
a 63,64,58 chevy super sports and that was only during 1969 thru 1972.
Got married to Sherry on May 25 1973 at Pomona, Calif. but didn't have any kids until Sept 7,1977 my daughter Merrcy then a second child on March 19,1981 my son Johanthan.
My marriage lasted until November 1985 when we got divorced. During the time when I was married there were good times and bad times just like anyone else got lots of stories to tell but not right now. We had opened three business together and sold them probely the best on was a Texaco Gas Station in the town of Walnut Calif. between the years of 1978 and 1985. Made a lot of money and spent a lot of money. At one time it was the only gas station in Calif were you could get gas and a beer at the same time.
As time went by I ended up raising my kids do to the passing of my ex wife.
Took a maintenance supervisor job in Loma Linda, Calif so that my kids could finish out their school;ing in the same place. After they were out of school i went to work on my own transporting RV for a company. In 2004 my son and I opened our own business of transporting RV under the name of Dreamhauler Transportion. That lasted until the recession hit at the end of 2008. We still have the business but not as much work. We will survive thru this mess and it will get better.
Now referring to the statement before about my time with the 556 LMC staying with me for the rest of my life. At the last reunion I was elected President of or orgaination.

I will be uploading some pictures on the photo page soon.
